I really like this post! The way you and your partner discuss Doctor Who sounds a lot like the way my sister (17) and I (19) discuss all the TV shows we watch (including Doctor Who, though we’ve only seen the new seasons!). Exceptions almost prove the rule, though. I can name one or two exceptions to most of the generalizations above, but the examples of the fail are so numerous as to be nigh unnameable. They just fade into the background, and the exceptions thus pop out all the more.

Great post; I definitely agree overall. Just wanted to point one thing (possibly gaining some geek cred in so doing):

“When was the last time you saw a person in a wheelchair who was not a one-line, one-dimensional character (or caricature)?”

It IS rare, but I have to point out Professor Xavier from the X -Men. :o) Again, though, I completely agree overall.
