23 days later is a lot more ominous in the world of menstruation than 28 days later.
It figures: the one month we don’t chart at all (blame The Man needing to go on antibiotics for 10 days, and my laziness) is the one month my body up and decides to do something FUCKING WEIRD. Like have another period after a mere 23 days. And no, I’m not talking spotting or whatnot either. Cramping, bleeding, uterus trying to turn itself inside out: the whole shebang.
All I have to say is: what the hell, body?

In my bathroom hangs a plaque with a picture of a yin yang and the word BALANCE. I can never get it to hang straight. This probably says something deep and meaningful about my life.
In my pre-kid days my cycle was anything from 21 days to 114 days. I know that people say you can still do natural family planning with an irregular cycle, but I just don’t buy it. (I haven’t had enough cycles post-kid to know what I have.)
Oh, you really can do symptothermal method with irregular cycles (not rhythm method — never, ever rhythm method). It’s just a right pain the the arse.
The thing is, any pre-ovulation days (which is all but the last 9-16 days of your cycle, depending — mine tends to the short side), after the first five, you have to be super ultra conservative about if you want to be able to rely on it as a birth control method. Me, I don’t even bother: we use condoms during that time, because I almost always have some amount of fertile-quality cervical fluid then. And if your cycle is 114 days, that means 95 days are going to be a right pain in the arse, with lots of “yes? no? maybe?” days and decisions.
So it sucks. And I probably wouldn’t. But it is possible.
At the start of this year, my body apparently decided my whole cycle needed to shift two weeks over. Um, okay, body. Am on me period right now
. I’m using http://www.cyclespage.com to keep track.
I’m just tired of it deciding to shift based on whether or not I’m charting! Back when we were trying to conceive, the very month I started charting, my cycles went from irregular 30-some days to regular 27-28. This cycle, after months of regular, and charted, 26-29, we don’t chart and it drops to 23. I know that physics says the act of observation changes that which is observed, but come on!
And yay, cycle sisters! (Ish. For now, anyway.
)
Bleh, don’t you hate that? I always had longish cylces pre Orion, then in between Orion and Akasha they were really short. I was like, what the heck universe? Are you paying me back for all that lost time from before lol?
Woah! You made it! And to a recent post! I’m, like, flabbergasted!
(Hi!)
